Encompass Health will construct a 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Bowie, Maryland.
It’s just the latest in a series of projects for the growing Birmingham-based company, which is approaching Fortune 500 status.
The hospital is expected to begin operation in mid 2022.
The Maryland hospital will become part of Encompass Health’s national network of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and home health and hospice agencies. Encompass Health currently operates 137 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals across the country, and has been expanding its presence at a steady clip in recent years.
As we noted earlier this year, the company is also currently exploring alternatives for its home health business, which could include an initial public offering, spin-off, merger, sale or other transaction.
